imagine a society where an average of 6 babies was born per woman. this doesn't make abortion OK, if it would otherwise be wrong. here you have the moral issue without the social issue.
now imagine a society where an average of 1 baby is born per woman. this unsustainable birth rate, suppose further, is due to people here just having no desire for sex. abortion just does not happen in this society, for whatever reason. here you have the social issue without the moral issue.
ergo, the two issues are logically independent.
