Act fucking manly and play hard to get. That's how I've gotten several decent relationships going with pretty good women. I even went out with a chick who used to call herself a lesbian (though, considering sexuality for just about everyone at that point, it's somewhat understandable). I’m not sure what happened to her afterwards, though.
I once dated this hot, almost hippie girl who used to go out with one of my old friends. Needless to say, he was quite pissed as he used to be so protective of her and was, unlike me, somewhat of a hippie like her, but she ended the relationship with him because she didn’t think she was mature enough to have a boyfriend, which is ironic considering how mature that decision was. I followed a similar philosophy at the time and a several months after she and my friend broke away from each other and we kind of hit it off. My friend was, again, pissed at this development, but he had already crawled back to his attention whore of a former girlfriend who tended to surround herself with the most pathetic and desperate boys in the entire school, including the most obese and disgustingly ugly of them.
We aren’t friends anymore, of course. He was an okay guy, too, but toward the end of the year everyone began to avoid the attention whore because they realized what she really was.
