Bullshit, no way you could do that. They killed off characters that were entirely set in stereotypes typical of such a setting, which always come with a "plot armor valid until the final battle" certificate. And they'd do it in a very un-epic manner, absolutely no build-up and very little mourning and repercussions for any individual death. Just "oh well, casuality. Move the fuck on". Pretty much the only good point of a show that you couldn't expect much from after seeing the rather poor character designs and generic plot summary.
