See, I think her "killing without remorse" is a reason for her being GAR. It takes people years and years of military training to not be affected and get all angsty over taking a life. Kino was introduced to it at a very young age, and had it mastered by the time she was a teenager. It takes someone with a very hardcore nature to be able to do that. I consider something like that to be incredibly GAR, no matter the gender.
Furthermore, she's not always an observer, afterall she does interact with these people. She just doesn't rant on as if her own ways were superior. Things are "different" not "wrong" to her. When she does get involved--such as her time in the tournament, that country where they slaughtered a town to solve their own conflict, delivering the wooden carving to the boy in the outside farm in Country of Illness, etc--her actions and outlook in regards to those situations are, in every sense of the word, "awesome". Again, I find that to be incredibly GAR, no matter the gender.>>9311946
