No. It's quite a difference of what majority of shoujo used to be and what is it now. 70s had a fairytale feel of it, the 80 and 90s had a soap operatic reality to it (for example, Marmalade Boy or Kodocha). Now, most of it is smut. It goes like this:
Main heroine: Usually cute, stupid but very empathic, most of the time is the Cinderella in other words, the poor one.
Main hero: Hardass and sexy, usually have some emotional hangup, either his parents wasn't there for him or the girl never noticed him. A Prince on a White Horse Gone Bad and usually loaded.
They meet, usually the hero picking on the heroine on some way or like the manga on this thread. In a series format, he usually sexually harassing the heroine due to either pushing her into the relationship or trapping her in it. She eventually looks past the hardass-ness and wants to bring out the gentle soul within from the hurt and pain and usually succeed in doing so, usually after they fucked a couple of time for the confusion in their relationship take over. Eventually the Cinderella helps the Hardass Prince's emotional burden to become the guy she always wanted. And in a series, it usually end in a wedding.
