Ender's Game is a good example of what I'm talking about. Card deliberately AVOIDS all the devices of so-called "fine writing".
It's supposed to be accessible by everyone. That's how it's written.
A lot of people who have built their entire reputations upon being inaccessible would be pitied, instead of honored, for being so out of reach if everyone could agree stories should be told that way.
No one needs a shitton of adjectives, literary devices, or any of that to convey a good story.
