All of these fall under the wide umbrella of "conflict" and it is "conflict" that allows mankind to continue to better themselves. Half of the things mentioned are impossible to totally eradicate, as due to human nature, there will always be those who will rape, murder, etc if they can get away with it. Further, there will always be those who posses the intellect to do so.
War, for instance, is a necessary evil that we must continually deal with. While war culls a great amount of the population on both sides, it also prompts both to develop weapons and technology at a dizzying rate in order to survive. Its this struggle for survival that results in a better life for those who remain after the war(the victorious side only, of course), as new innovations made for the purpose of survival are adapted to help our everyday lives. People are lazy, and when we are pushed to the brink we suddenly become alot more prosperous, proportional to how close we are to the razor's edge.
Imagine a world without all these elements of "conflict." How often do you think we would expend the energy to innovate? What would the reason be? If we were all happy, what reason would we have to make ourselves MORE happy? Could you even BE more happy if no evil was done in the world and you lived a pleasant life?
tl;dr It is the contrast between good and evil that defines us, you can never have only one or the other. You must have both, and when one waxes or wanes, it prompts the other to strengthen itself in response.
