Anon you're just being demagogic.
Traditionally comic-book superheroes never had a real ending beyond low sales. The reason was simple, it was a time when comic-books were considered to have little to no artistic value, but just some other form of entertainment. Add to that the fact that all editors considered their readership renewed completely after a few years meaning that you could recycle old stories without anyone ever noticing and why the fuck would you want to kill the cash-cow?
When comics evolved and gained more respect, you got real stories with beginning, middle and ENDINGS, a thousand times better than what I've seen in anime and manga (remember the ending of Urusei Yatsura?). Go read anything Vertigo for fuck's sake, like Transmetropolitan or the Sandman.
tl;dr: Bullshit, Vertigo comics have real endings, unlike the shitty endings of manga.
