/a/, I just finished it at the behest of a friend.

Whereas one could say Eva began a running theme in anime of having a disjointed and screwy story with seemingly no point, destination, or message that cannot be explained without a level of analysis that yields an answer far better and more advanced then the creators actually put forth.

Gurren Lagann however, breaks though this idea and leads into a new world of anime, like a drill piercing a metaphysical barrier, breaking though to a place where the show sticks up for itself, has a terminal point, and regardless of how nonsensical the events are still tries to make sense in of itself.
