What, it's not really much worse than any other figtan shounen of the same kind- super power, inner energy, "there's always a next level" power-ups, people not dying when they are killed, repetitive story, useless women, etc. It's got all the typical stuff to entertain kids and done in the most standard way possible. Surely the quality doesn't warrant the success it got, but Kurumada just got lucky that his show was sort of a harbinger of anime in many countries. Plus it was highly toyetic.
Anyone enjoying it today are people who were kids in the 80's/early 90's and carry around their nostalgia goggles, but there are worse reasons to watch something.
