Being a newfag is not an offense in and of itself.
However, it has come to my attention that 95% of newfags don't know about this site:http://www.lurkmore.com/wiki//a/
About 80% of newfag confusion, ESPECIALLY when it comes to memes (which is what Lurk More specializes in) could be avoided with newfags studying all the free information available on this site.
I'm one of the few who sees the value in this site, updating it regularly (I think I even wrote the articles on Decantering and Tsunderes), as Lurk More actually makes /a/ enjoyable by allowing you to comprehend the humor of the running-jokes here. The alternative would be for them to have to ask /a/nonymous to explain the joke, and we all know that simply isn't an option.
It'd be nice if they had a "sauce" section, that listed pertinent characters from popular series or the sauce of various pages of popular manga so we could reduce the awkward "sauce" requests.
Lurking simply doesn't work any more.
I remember I lurked almost six months for the title of an anime which ended up being Zero no Tsukaima. The specific title of a certain series, or even a character's name in some cases, is stated, far, far less often then you'd think.
"Lurking" also just doesn't work for getting memes, either (and when it does, your concept of said meme is often warped and wrong, so when you use it you sound like a dumbass). Either you were here on /a/ at the specific minute a new meme was formed, or you don't get it. And asking /a/nonymous to explain it for you is again simply not an option. Some of us just don't have the endless hours to while away, constantly on /a/, hoping we're on the minute a new joke is formed.
