I was expecting to hate Alto. I was honestly surprised at how likable a character he turned out to be.
The whole "princess" thing actually turned out to be quite cool; on the one hand it frustrates him, as much as it is just good natured teasing, on the other hand we see how much time he does put into his appearance.
Ep 2 where he just fucks off in the middle of the talk with Ranka because the enormity of the situation has hit him. The throwing up when he gets back to the fight scene was nice. Not devastatingly original or anything, but a nice touch that really made me empaphise with the character.
Maybe that's why I find Alto likeable; he's not "Zomg, fucking perfect", and he's not pathetic. He's just an ordinary guy. He's fucking pretty, but he gets teased like crazy about it. He's brave in the face of danger, but it's a put on a bravery, and the truth is that this stuff scares the shit out of him. He's running from his father, and the whole "being an actor" thing, but he still has a flair for the theatrical that he can't quite give up. Alto is a collection of very human conflicts, and I find it surprisingly easy to empaphise with him.
Same with Sheryl. She's another "Seems like she's got it together but really hasn't" character. The more of her we see, the more we realise that there's a real person under all the glamour and pouting.
