I watched the first season and found it serious business. Then I came to /a/ and realized all of the flaws.
The second season is like some high school play I can see the stagehands of; the writing is pitifully shallow, the drama pompous and pretentious, and the animation only moderately good. Nothing on Gurren-Lagann or Soul Eater's work.
That said, Geass has a few good points.
1. Jun Fukuyama's fucking amazing voicework. Did this guy win an award? He damn well deserves it, I've heard tons of roles of his and they all sound reasonably different. Fab-kun from Ghost Hound, Watanuki, Lelouch, he's got amazing skills despite what looks at first to be limited range.
2. Zero and his gestures. The character doesn't look like he belongs in Geass, I've said before he's like something out of Gankoutsuou.
3. Music, but the music is mostly rehash of season 1.
