Oh I agree. Just earlier today I put up that media, all types of media from Movies to print to Animation runs in a 5-10 year cycle of heightened creativity and lots of 'good' works and then slows as ideas run out and a lot of repeated/filler material is made to push the medium along until the next cycle of 'good' can come along.
Hollywood, gaming and Anime have all been on a slump all at once recently. Hollywood this year looks like it might be on the rebound however (emphasis on might). Anime however, continues on with the same thing its been doing since about 2001 on.
But eventhough Anime is in this state, saying you are just 'thinking fondly back to the good ol' days' isn't a good enough excuse to explain why the current shows are so poor and the years past were so rich in quality and diversity.
Yes, there were bad shows back then, but many more good shows in percentage. Now adays, there are just mostly bad shows. And the few good shows can't compare.
