I like Death Note; it's successful with it's suspense-filled plot and the characters trying to outsmart each another in complex and introspective monologues.

But why the fuck did Raito give up his plans for a "better world" after all those speeches? I thought that that was the deal with him; his extremist justice wish of punishing evil no matter what the consequences. But no, he just surrendered the notebook and took the easy way out by getting his memories lost...

It reminded me of Gantz, when the the protagonist also lost his memories... I stopped reading after that.
