This reminds me of a dream I had...
I'm in an arcade, I guess. It's sort of haphazard, it wasn't really complete if that's what it was supposed to be, it's like I only imagined the part of the arcade that mattered. Or maybe it was a pizza place or a theatre or something like that, where sometimes they'll have the lone arcade cabinet sitting around, you know?
Behind it was an off-white wall, sort of a beige pink, kind of like my desktop. Haruko was there, and thinking about it, I'd be inclined to suggest someone else was, but I don't know who. We were sort of hanging around previously when she has me come over to the arcade cabinet. As I approach I see the control layout and the type of game it is and I sort of laugh and say how bad I am at these. It's sort of ground based shmup, like a cross between your average shmup and Centipedes or something. It controls like Asteroids does on a keyboard, with with multiple buttons controlling direction and speed and a couple controlling when to fire and whatnot.
It's got a sort of booth kind of seat with the controls predominately to the right. She sits down to the right of me and we sort of cramp into it. It's going to be kind of awkward to play with two people, but we agree I'll be controls and she'll control when and what to fire. I'm going to my pocket to get out a quarter but she's already gotten one out and plunks it in. You control a sort of robot, in retrospect the way it looked on screen was probably taken from that minigame in No More Heroes. The game starts and enemies begin to come onto the screen. I'm dashing around avoiding them trying to get a feel for the controls, with her sending out a barrage of bullets once I've maneuvered to give her a shot.
The cabinet is set up for one player, so our shoulders are pressed together reaching for our individual controls. We continue like this, having a good time, not doing too bad at it, before I suddenly wake up.
