That's exactly my point. Cleanthes for example may have been a simple water carrier but everybody admired him and loved him simply because he was honest, patient and kind. That's why I find the whole idea of dick-waving over how many women you've slept with so stupid. Ok then, let's take that objective standard as our yardstick.
The likes of Cleanthes come out near bottom, but the likes of Nero and Caligula come out at the top. Is that a fair objective standard? No. Neither is assessing someone's wealth or education as a determinant of their worth.>>11942579
Forgive me if I've misconstrued you but you called me a silly pessimist, which I am not. I am quite the opposite in fact. Most of anonymous, girlfriend or not, could do with a little more optimism.
My main problem is that you have this kind of girlfriend centric model of the universe that you are purporting as the cure of all ills. It's a bit like that advicefaggy comic from /b/ some people post in these threads. That you should treat any self-betterment as simply one step along the road to getting a girlfriend.
That's stupid advice.
You should better yourself for YOURSELF, not in the hope of a hypothetical girlfriend.
