No, the skin color actually matters.
A white person that stays out of the sun = nice.
A white person spending all day outside = fucking ugly red burned skin looking all native American.
Back in the days (whole human history up to 50 years ago) White skin was status. It meant you had wealth, while dark skin meant no status. e.g. farmer/ manual laborer working outside.
This obviously only applies to westerners and East Asians. Over there (Japan) you still see some ladies use umbrellas/parasols too keep their skin nice and white. Sadly in the west tan somehow got popular for some strange reason. Besides red-brownish skin being ugly it also quickens aging, gives you wrinkles and skin cancer.
