>>11873881>(new) Disney: CGI animation
That's my point. Disney are meant to be America's most famous animation company and yet they're going for a really fucking cheap and uninspiring direction. If anime companies can create 2D movement on a low budget, why can't an exceedingly rich company do the same and bring out 2D's full potential?
I don't like 3D animation, Pixar did it fine and it was more interesting then - but now a mixture of tons of Dreamworks, crappy CG kids shows and Disney's complete abandonment of 2D is turning it into a really tiresome thing.
I get the feeling one day we could be watching nothing but bland CGI crap - half the reason I like anime even more is that it relies on 2D animation first and foremost.
Perhaps if CGI looked like the intro scenes for games like Soul Calibur or Modern Final Fantasy games, it would be alright - instead you that tacky gradient effect and something that looks amateurish.
The fact that Walt Disney and Toei got together (probably with a huge budget) and decided to produce some crappy, lazy CGI is irritating - why not just a normal anime? With such a budget it could turn out awesome.
