Funny, this is the first thing I thought about whenever I hear that question these days.
Anyway though, I believe that life has two meanings that can hold different levels of meaning to the one who knows.
The first is one that can only be understood (because deep down we all know what it is) through long nights and countless days of suffering, thought, and reflection, the meaning you only learn upon breaking down the walls of the self and obtaining true objectivity. (I'm Buddhist, of course I'm not gonna say "get on your knees pay lip service to the serpent in God's lap.")
The second one is actually meaningless in the grand scale, but it'll probably help you rest easy at night and is the total opposite of the above. The meaning of life is absolute subjectivity, going to pick up eggs are the store? There's your meaning for the moment. Life holds whatever meaning and value YOU give it, and let no one tell you different.
Go in with peace in your heart, anon.
