Champloo was fucking excellent, it just didn't break as much new ground as Bebop. Bebop was a fucking masterpiece and remains one in my mind.

Not. It doesn't have the same feeling as Bebop does, and it just feels like it's on a much less grand scale. 70% of Bebop had heartfelt moments, 20% was HOLY FUCKING SHIT I'M BAWLING MY EYES OUT TRAGIC and 5% was goofing around.
The ratio of goofing around to heartfelt and grandiose in Champloo was a lot less, with a lot more concentration on silly albeit holy fucking awesome shit.
Mugen's "death" in 13 or 14 or whatever, with the Okinawan folk-singing and imagery is almost on the level of Blue, though.
