When Charles said he'd slay the gods, I first thought it might be because V.V. wanted to do it in revenge for the suffering that was brought upon his kind for all their life (persecution, witch burning, etc). The gods allowed it to happen so they're evil, blah blah.

But what if it's even more melodramatic than that? What if Charles and V.V. want to slay the gods because they feel that the current way the world operates is corrupt, and they're simply taking whatever means are necessary to change that and allow for a "kinder world?" They want to kill those in charge (the gods) and make a system they feel is just? Wouldn't that make Charles and V.V. a lot like...Lelouch and C.C.?
