I obey by the three rules of power level suppression:
1. Don't tell anyone.
2. Don't show any affiliation to anime in public.
3. If an anime/manga discussion comes up, feign ignorance.
That's it. All this "Stop being an insecure faggot" is utter bullshit, because that's not what this is about. Anime is not that important to me, so I don't really care if I don't make it known to others. If it was something important to me, sure, I'll tell others and be proud of it, but not anime.
It's also simply not worth inheriting the social stigma, no matter how much of a mature and normal anime viewer you are. I'm not ashamed at all of watching anime because I know I'm entirely normal, but nobody actually cares about that. If you watch anime, you collect Pokemon cards, cosplay, and fap to cartoon porn all day long. That's it, no questions asked, no callbacks, final destination. That's just the nature of social stigmas - it's not as if you don't do it yourself on a regular basis.
