The thing about this show that though is that Fukumoto is totally liable for what he portrays. Mangaka often ignore stuff like physics because they don't understand it, but Fukumoto had to know his shit to write Akagi.
If you know how the play the game and follow it step-by-step, the logic is almost ironclad. Compared with Kaiji, which involves a shitload of assumptions and risks (which makes it a better GAMBLING anime imo) Akagi has a lot more mechanical detail.
While we know Akagi beats Washizu in the end, Fukumoto is responsible for showing exactly how - step by step. No bullshit involved. That outweights the predictability since it's so rare.
