It's a problem people have with Anime. They can't realize that the simplified, and often irrational personalities Anime characters hold, don't work out so well in real life. An Anime is a story, everything is designed to work in a way that would befit a more entertaining a desirable environment. Life isn't like that. To name a few differences, in Anime, the person with the interesting personality is the person who looks the most attractive in the eyes of their peers, where as in real life, people with decent looks are unlikely to develop what some might call personality-disorders, or differences in how the majority would act, because they're respected to begin with, and from childhood, have little stress, and thus almost no reason to find such a system distasteful. In Anime, everything people say comes out perfectly for the situation; jokes are set up, speeches are inspiring, and people generally don't sound like total dumbasses, unless the situation calls for it. Instead, in real life, attempts at jokes are made so much that they are often unthoughtful, and uncreative, speeches sound overly corny and display a poor word choice, and indistinguishable from any other common method of communication, and if you talk enough, you're bound to make a simple mistake which any amount of intelligible statements are not likely to make up for. People don't realize these things, and because of their often low self-image, (they're watching Anime after all) they think that if they become more like the character, they will be more interesting, or will be able to acquire the traits which makes these characters so important in their eyes. It's the same problem kids have when they watch Pro Wrestling. People just don't realize that the fantasy world is not anything like the real world, and through that they work towards major levels of disassociation with society, and their personal limitations.
