Like pretty much everyone, I gave up on this series after seeing the character designs. But I got bored, so I've been watching it.

And you know what? I can live with the character designs. The first series was pretty much a masterpiece, so any comparisons to it can't be very favorable. And the story is still there, the labyrinthine politics, the characters, and the oh-so-moe mixture of innocence and ruthless efficiency. And when the characters are just standing around talking, you can let yourself forget the predecessor and just enjoy this series on its own merits.

And then an action scene will come up, and you will RAGE at the absolute butchering travesty of whatever godforsaken thought process allowed this series to be greenlit. I mean, my god, it really is terrible.

tl;dr -Il Teatrino is a stillborn crime against nature.
