Long ago, Chinese people immigrated to what is now known as the Korean peninsula. Then, some of those people moved to what is now modern Japan.
Fast forward for a few hundred years, China is practically a superpower and its neighbouring countries are using the Chinese written language. Now, some Koreans thought that making a simplified version of Chinese words would increase literacy rates. A few years later, while Korea was split up into three nations, one of the seafaring nations started trading regularly with Japan. They brought with them the Chinese written language and their simplified version. Japan wasn't too happy with the written languages they're using because the Chinese language was TOO DEEP for them, so they came up with their own "alphabets" to end up with the moon runes you see and fail to comprehend.
