Yes. The first episode was one of the best I saw in a very long time. It's unfortunate that thereafter, the show spent half of the run with nothing other than Romeo and Juliet gazing at one another with puppy eyes, and the latter half with retarded shit like "TYBALT IS A MONTAGUE!" and ending its run with "NOBLE SACRIFICE LOL!" and "JULIET BECOMES A TREE LOL!" - thus completely sidelining the original point of the show (selfish teenagers committing suicide for love and as a result of irony).
I can accept when a lot of liberties are taken (i.e. that modernized Romeo and Juliet film with Dicaprio), hell, I more than welcomed reverse trap Juliet, the flying horses and city, and the Montagues being in a dominant position, but if an adaptation can't even evoke the core theme of the original work, then why bother?
T'was the biggest disappointment of 2007 for me. I think GONZO really had to make an effort to fuck up this one - I think all of us here could have done something better out of this show with that kind of premise.
