“What is real?” How do we know that what we experiencing moment by moment is actually real and not just a complex construct of the mind? There is thought in hypnotherapeutic circles that we are indeed living in on massive trance state – a perpetual state of hypnosis. The theory goes that the problems we have are always about ourselves. We are the object of the problem. But in order to be the object, we have to be something; and that something is always an idea or a set of ideas. The idea is always a suggestion of who we are or what we are (who are YOU anyway?). The conclusion is the problems are about an imagined self, an idea of self; in short, an illusion from which we could simply, in theory, walk away from.
