Kamikaze means divine wind right.
and well it was used in referencing the typhoon that destroyed the mongolian fleet. So it makes perfect sense that they'd use the term for when they had to sink the american ships when the americans went on the offensive in WWII. The pilots would embody the spirit of the divine wind (since they were flying in the air, as fast as the wind) and they'd crash trying to sink a ship. Eventually kamikaze entered the english lexicon as a meaning for a suicide attack, since this was the context with which the americans had used the word in the first place.
