That's the problem though. Most of the people here thought that the Chuunin Exam arc was so awesome, that when he started doing the other arcs, they failed to meet our expectations.
He also only did ONE short arc (Naruto Bridge) and then proceeded to move the story to arcs of HUGE proportions.
Furthermore, Naruto is about ninjas going on missions for hire. But do we see that? No! Even if he wanted to continue his storyline he should've at least given us some shorter arcs to allow us to get to know our main characters (Naruto, Sakura, Sasuke, Kakashi) better before blowing things out of proportiion.
Fairy Tail is about mages going on missions for hire. But do we see that? Yes! Requests are made and filled out. The story features MANY mages in Fairy Tail but focuses on the main team (Natsu, Lucy, Happy). Once we get to know them better the team is increased (Gray, Erza, Loki). We get to know our main characters better and more missions are done. The arcs aren't as large and epic as Naruto but we get to know who each of the characters are with each arc and stories are completed in a shorter time. Besides, the time for the long epic chapters will come LATER in the story.
Now let's go over arcs in 70 chapters.
NARUTO: Beginning, Naruto Bridge, Chuunin Exam
FAIRY TAIL: Beginning, Dear Kaby Book, Demon Flute, Ice Demon, Phantom Lord, Tower of Paradise.
